Kinja'd!!!

Had $300 of gear in my cart. I can’t have it sent to the house because of pkg theives in my area so I was happy to see that I could have FedEx drop it at Walgreens for pickup. After an hour and a half of shopping I went to check out only to find that I couldn’t use PayPal if I wanted the package dropped for pickup. I’m not going to get their credit card (29.99% interest - no thanks) or use another card when I have a PayPal balance sitting around.

I tried to contact customer service, but they don’t provide an email address. I tried the SMS option but was told that SMS is currently unavailable. Sorry, Newegg, I guess I’ll have to keep my money...

29.99%? WTF...

30%? Is that even legal?

FedEx or UPS store, or one of those mailbox places don’t work?

Hmm, does their online chat work for you (it can be a long wait though) ?

On one hand, credit card interest doesn’t matter as long as you pay stuff off. On the other hand signing up for any credit card, especially one with a 30% APR just to make a purchase is dumb, and I certainly wouldn’t do it.

Can’t have it delivered to work or a family member/friend?

I’m on FMLA right now, plus I can’t have anything delivered to the office per policy. No family in the area, and my friends tend to live in worse neighborhoods than me...

Can you pay off the credit card with paypal? Or just  transfer paypal to your bank and pay it off that way?

Can you still get a paypal balance transferred to a bank account?

Too much time to transfer, and by then the sale will be over.

This is disappointing. Newegg got bought out like half a decade ago? Their commitment to service seems to have declined as a result.

Ah, makes sense. Kind of stupid policies on the part of NewEgg. Hopefully you can get in touch with someone to figure it out. Or at the very least, sign up for FedEx Delivery Manager and see if you can do anything that way.

Could you buy it on a credit card then pay it off with  the transfer from paypal?

According to Newegg, the issue is that PayPal apparently is the one that prevents delivery to anything other than an address registered with PayPal. As I’ve sadly discovered, the shipper can put restrictions on where packages can be dropped or held, and it’s really frustrating.

Use credit card to make purchase, then transfer paypal funds to bank account and use said funds to pay credit card bill in full before due date. Win-win, no interest accrued and you might make a few bucks in cash back rewards on the credit card, depending on which one you use.
